What is Gokito

“Gokito” refers to a special Shinto prayer or blessing performed by a shrine priest (“kannushi”). These rituals are conducted to invoke the protection and guidance of the kami for specific purposes, such as health, safety, business success, or family harmony. During a gokito ceremony, participants are seated in a sacred space, and the priest recites prayers, offers symbolic items, and waves a sacred branch (“tamagushi”) to purify and bless the attendees. This is a deeply personal and spiritual experience, often marking important life events or transitions.
